Many of us don’t want to get older. They want ‘eternal youth’. They hate wrinkles and worry about getting grey hair. Luckily we live in a time where we have access to various tools and little remedies to help us look younger than we actually are. We use cosmetics, fashion, accessories and some people even use a magic touch of a surgeon to work against time.

But all these enhancements are not the only way to keep up a youthful appearance. The way we move our body can give away our real age or make us look even older than we are.

A supple and toned body can take years off you! A body with good spinal flexibility and rotation can move smoothly through our daily tasks. Firm arms and legs with good joint mobility move with a lighter touch and imply youth.

Even if we can’t escape natural ‘wear and tear’ of our bones and joints but keeping our body in shape doesn’t only look good it also prevents us from various age related diseases.

Good core stability helps us maintaining good posture, a flatter tummy and eventually can prevent bladder incontinence. It also enables us to move with more lightness through the day.

Taking care of our spine and retaining its flexibility and mobility means we can bend and twist, stand tall and absorb impact generated by walking, running, jumping without experiencing pain.

I couldn’t agree more with Joseph Pilates who said:

“If your spine is inflexibly stiff at 30, you are old. If it is completely flexible at 60 you are young.”
